Delivery Day Contact Phone Number

July 24th, 2008 by The BookaBin New Zealand Bin Hire Team

Are you using the best contact phone number? When you book a bin at www.bookabin.co.nz, on the booking page where it asks for your “Daytime Phone Number”, please put in the best number for contacting you on the day the bin is to be delivered.

All too often when a customer books a bin online, they put their daytime work phone number. If the bin is to be delivered on a weekend and there is a problem with delivery or another matter, the supplier delivering the bin will end up trying the work number and may not be able to get a hold of you. This is why it is imperative that you please enter the phone number that you can be contactable on at time of delivery.

Communication Breakdown!

July 17th, 2008 by The BookaBin New Zealand Bin Hire Team

Here at Bookabin we like to be kept up to speed on the status of our suppliers and we’re sure the feelings mutual. Having access to contact details such as a cell phone or direct dial makes it easier for both parties if any issues occur during your delivery and pickup times. Whether it be that nobody’s home or there is an issue with a pincode to even get onto the property we would need to be made aware. You can ensure that the bin booking process goes off without a hitch if you provide us with a number we can contact you on directly on the day of the delivery.

So what are you waiting for? The right supplier is only a click away!

A Whole Load Of Rubbish

July 10th, 2008 by The BookaBin New Zealand Bin Hire Team

Thinking about booking a bin online? There is only one place to go to get the best quote for your area, www.bookabin.co.nz.

As you are probably looking at your pile of waste right now and wondering what sort of bin you will need, here are a few things to consider…

A General Waste Bin and Green Waste Bin have weight limits of 150kgs per cubic meter in size (i.e a 9 cubic metre skip bin can hold up to 1350kgs of waste). Suppliers are charged tip fees based on weight. The limit of 150kgs per cubic meter for these waste types is the average industry weight limit. If your bin exceeds this weight limit suppliers may charge you additional tipping fees. To give you an example of weight limits, 1 cubic meter of dirt weighs about 1.5 tonnes, exceeding the weight limit of a 9 cubic meter General Waste and Green Waste skip bin. (NOTE: There are no weight restrictions for Clean Fill skip bins.)

Skip bins should not be filled any higher than the top of its sides and should be filled in such a manner as to prevent spillage of material from the skip bin either while stationary or in transit. (Suppliers face prosecution for unsafe or overweight loads.)  You cannot put any hazardous waste into the skip bins. To dispose of this you need to contact your local council. Hazardous chemicals include Solvents, Paints, Acids, Laboratory Waste, Oils, Grease traps etc.

You may still have a few unanswered questions , if so check out our FAQ page at www.bookabin.co.nz or feel free to LIVE CHAT with us from the website.

Hazardous Waste!

July 3rd, 2008 by The BookaBin New Zealand Bin Hire Team

Just a quick reminder of what is considered hazardous waste as this may not always be the obvious. Most bin hire suppliers do not allow items such as asbestos but did you know what other items fall under hazardous waste?

Below are our findings:

  • Microwaves
  • Fridges
  • Paint Cans
  • Liquids of any kind
  • Tyres
  • Mattresses
  • Food Waste
  • Computer or TV screens
  • Compressed Gas Cylinders
  • Items that run off gas
  • Lights
  • Batteries
  • Treated Wood
  • Please keep this information in mind the next time you book a bin! Disposing of hazardous waste in your skip bin can not only come as a hefty fee to you, but it can also play its toll on the environment.

    Have a great weekend!
