Hazardous Waste Disposal!

August 14th, 2008 by The BookaBin New Zealand Bin Hire Team

Hey Everyone!

Just checking to see if you’re all up to speed on how to properly dispose of hazardous waste (ie: fridges, asbestos, paint cans, mattresses, etc). Most bin hire suppliers do not allow such items. Don’t panic, there are plenty of ways to dispose of such items. Here are a few:

  • Make a few extra dollars while getting on top of your waste management. There are plenty of vendors that are happy to take your fridge or microwave off your hands, simply check your local paper or go online
  • TradeMe is another vendor where you can sell your goods and make a profit on at the same time
  • Contact your local government authority
  • Wait for Organic Day (be a tidy Kiwi)

However if you’re looking to get rid of any household waste, clean fill or general waste (see FAQ for more details) take a look at our website. Work all week but free during the weekends? NO PROBLEM! We can work something out to suit you!

So what are you waiting for the right supplier is only a click away!

Hazardous Waste!

July 3rd, 2008 by The BookaBin New Zealand Bin Hire Team

Just a quick reminder of what is considered hazardous waste as this may not always be the obvious. Most bin hire suppliers do not allow items such as asbestos but did you know what other items fall under hazardous waste?

Below are our findings:

  • Microwaves
  • Fridges
  • Paint Cans
  • Liquids of any kind
  • Tyres
  • Mattresses
  • Food Waste
  • Computer or TV screens
  • Compressed Gas Cylinders
  • Items that run off gas
  • Lights
  • Batteries
  • Treated Wood
  • Please keep this information in mind the next time you book a bin! Disposing of hazardous waste in your skip bin can not only come as a hefty fee to you, but it can also play its toll on the environment.

    Have a great weekend!
